Tobruk Australian Outback Experience including Aussie BBQ Lunch

Tobruk Australian Outback Experience including Aussie BBQ Lunch

Duration: 6 hours 30 minutes | Sydney, New South Wales, Australia | Starting from $123.00 per person

Take a day trip from Sydney to Tobruk Sheep Station for a real Australian Outback experience. This is a day packed with unique ‘Aussie’ experiences. You’ll learn how to make traditional damper and billy tea over the campfire, watch stockmen on horseback mustering their sheep, take part in a sheep-shearing demonstration, and learn how to crack a whip and throw a boomerang. The day is completed with an authentic Aussie BBQ lunch.Leaving Sydney, you’ll travel over the Sydney Harbour Bridge and along the Great Northern Road, a stretch of road built by the convicts back in the early days of Australian settlement. En route to Tobruk Sheep Station, located only 70 minutes from the center of Sydney, you’ll view some of the most beautiful rural landscapes that Australia has to offer. Tobruk Sheep Station is one of Sydney’s most stunning rural properties. On arrival at Tobruk, you’ll be greeted by Australian stockmen on horseback. Relax at the Drovers Camp and learn how to make traditional ‘stockman’s tucker’: billy tea and damper. Damper is bread made in the stockman’s fire; to make billy tea, the pot is swung around at arm’s length so the tea leaves settle on the bottom prior to drinking.Enjoy your morning tea of freshly made damper with butter and golden syrup as you learn about the history of Tobruk and the life of a stockman. Watch an amazing ‘Stockman’s Roundup’ demonstration. This is a rare opportunity to see the riding ability of the stockman in action, and to appreciate the understanding and partnership he has with his sheepdog. Herding in excess of 50 sheep, the stockman will drive the sheep from the open field into the small paddock area. While watching Tobruk’s unique sheep-shearing demonstration, some of the audience will have the opportunity to join in and give it a try themselves. With the shearer to guide you, you will learn the history of sheep shearing and gain a better understanding of how wool is derived from the coat of a sheep. For lunch, this Outback Experience offers a world-famous Aussie BBQ. With a vast range of different dishes to choose from, from succulent T-Bone steaks to spicy sausages, you’ll wish you left room after your damper and billy tea. After lunch, try your hand at boomerang throwing and whip cracking. As you return to Sydney, take in the views over the Hawkesbury River valley and the Blue Mountains.

Sydney Aerobatic Thrill Flight

Sydney Aerobatic Thrill Flight

Duration: 45 minutes | Sydney, New South Wales, Australia | Starting from $465.00 per person

Be treated to aerobatic G-Forces, experience neck- numbing, adrenaline-inducing roller coaster of thrills 2000ft in the air above Sydney as your pilot gives you a taste of the G-Forces Baron Manfred Von Richtoffen himself may have experienced during air combat.Upon arrival at Bankstown airport, you will climb into a flight suit and prepare to board. You'll be able to hear all the calls to air traffic control and speak to your pilot through the intercom. Once airborne head west towards the foothills of the Great Dividing Range. Over St Mary's in the designated training area- you'll climb to 3500ft-4000ft. You'll start with some basic maneuvers like loops, barrel rolls, wingovers and hammer head turns to get the feel of things. Your pilot may also treat you to some inverted flight flying upside down and to a hesitation roll, a four point roll where you pause and fly straight ahead at each quarter turn. Your pilot will explain each maneuver as you go through it. Once you're comfortable with the basics you'll move onto some combination maneuvers; things like a Roll Off The Top, a half loop followed by a half roll and a Split S, the reverse of the Roll off the Top a half roll followed by a half loop. This may be followed by Cuban Eights and reverse Cuban Eights, which are three-dimensional figure eights. You'll experience G forces of anywhere between +6G and -3G, alternatively being pushed into your seat or pulled hard against your harness. After a couple of spins to shake things out your pilot will put all these elements together into an adrenaline inducing sequence of the type used in competition, and while aerobatic maneuvers are all fun and games today don't forget they developed out of the serious business of WWI, where fighter pilots like Baron Von Richtoffen and other flying aces performed these complicated aerial moves to avoid being shot down in deadly dog fights.
