Visit the Top End (Northern Territory) to discover Australia's
most famous national park - Kakadu. Your full day you will depart
from Darwin and travel to Kakadu National Park, which covers some
20,000 square kilometers making it Australia's largest national
park.
Kakadu's vast wetlands and ancient escarpment are home to one of
Australia's largest and most diverse bird populations and hold
outstanding natural and cultural significance. Take an optional
50-minute scenic flight over the Arnhem Land Escarpment. Then join
a guided cruise on Yellow Water billabong. Keep an eye out for the
wildlife, including crocodiles.
See rock art sites at Nourlangie Rock. The name 'Nourlangie' is an
anglicized version of Nawurlandja. The most famous rock art picture
at Nourlangie is called Namondjok and for some Aboriginal groups he
is a Creation Ancestor who now lives in the sky and can be seen
only at night, when he appears as a dark spot in the Milky Way
galaxy. En route to Darwin, stop at Window on the Wetlands Visitor
Centre to learn about the wildlife, seasonal changes, the various
animal groups and local Aboriginal and European history. Enjoy
complimentary drinks with stunning views over the floodplains.
